I know this is an expensive trick, inside is a handmade complex mechanism of solid brass parts and springs. There are about 50 parts inside and it is made to last forever.
From the 1870’s, when Otto Maurer, was a manufacturer of magic in New York City, where he created a magnificent Coin Casket effect, wherein, 4 silver coins would vanish one at a time, when the lid was closed! His customers and friends at his magic shop numbered; Trewey, Imro Fox, Horace Goldin, De Bier, Ducrot, Hermann, T. Nelson Downs, Houdini and Thurston! We are fortunate enough to possess one of his original Coin Caskets, which is now well over 100 years old and still WORKS! Imagine, if you can, just what technology was available at that time to create and hand make such a piece?
The inner workings of this miraculous piece of that era is beyond description! All hand made and fitted into a decorated hand made wooden box with antique brass fittings! It has taken over six months to get this project to fruition! And now myself and Stevens Magic present it to magic world to enjoy! Four half dollars, one at a time, are put into the four slots on top of the inner casket. Upon closing the door one coin vanishes! This is repeated three more times until all four coins have vanished!
